☊ eye candy: eye candy 안구정화 ☊

I have longed to write this post since the second episode of Shut Up Flowerboy Band 닥치고 꽃미남밴드… right after that Mean Girl inspired twist which kind of decided that I like this series more than Flowerboy Ramyun 꽃미남라면! But as you know, the peaceful and logical balance in my universe is still being restored following the SG sushow~ hence this is a really late post.

닥꽃밴드 started off with such severe bleakness which is a stark contrast to the comedic manhwa-like appeal of꽃미남라면. I admit that I felt distanced by 이민기's character on the first 2 episodes as his guyliner look was a bit too freaky for me. Do keep in mind that my stock knowledge on bands is defined by FT Island, CN Blue and Trax ~ so obviously I have no solid understanding or appreciation of this "rock spirit" they kept on flaunting. But after Episode 2 got my attention, I started to enjoy the character development of the band members. It felt more like a kdrama then ~ maybe because the boys suddenly had a lot to lose and a lot to gain.




I like the band name안구정화, as it prompts my spell check to review for duplicates on my title haha. I have to say that the band name couldn't have been more straightforward ㅋㅋ. The name is probably one of the LAST things I would come up with for a ROCK SPIRIT concept ~ but perhaps it's exactly this irony which makes it so rebellious? Perhaps…

And speaking of eye candy, can you say EMO concept 5, I mean 6 times over? ㅋㅋ

★ 성준 as Kwon Jihyuk 권지혁 ★ is definitely not my typical flowerboy. If all the band members drop their emo acts, Kwon Jihyuk would still be a rocker for me. He fits into his rebel role sooooo smoothly so major kudos on casting him for this role. Strangely, even if he doesn't strike me as a leading man type, I thought he was super cool playing the cold-hearted conflicted lover-boy.








★ L as 이현수 ★ cannot be a more loving OPPA to his young sis … lucky kid. I can't say I'm floored with his smug acting whenever he goes head-on with Jihyuk but he sure looks like he's working hard for it so I respect that. Perhaps I just still see him as Infinite's pretty-faced member and cannot reconcile his haughty character with his boyband image. But I really enjoy his close-ups too hahaha.





★ 이현재 as장도일 ★ has a face which is absolutely PERFECT for long hair. He is really TOO PRETTY. His non-smiling face fits his son-of-a-gangster character pretty well. But his killer suave vanishes easily with just slight hints of his beautiful smile haha. Must be why he has so few speaking lines. But I don't see the loveline with him and Wookyung (Byunghee's noona) … nahhhh.








★ 유민규 as 김하진 ★ is uhmmm … I'm quite confused about this guy. At times, he looks really cute and all and there are times when he looks quite eccentric hahaha. I definitely LOOOOOVE the bromance going on between Hajin and Kyeongjong though! It's a classic kdrama storyline which never gets old. Have you seen that scene when they were making up during a samgyeopsal party at Hyeonsoo's house? Sooooooo sweet, these guys!








★ 김민석 as 서경종 ★ is TONS adorable with his accent! I can see the other members as rockers but I just don't see it for this guy hahah~ He is just too cute! Even if he gets himself into fist fights, he still looks cute. Regardless.





★ 정의절 as 유승훈 ★ … OMO!I might be rooting for him mainly because he looks a lot like Kyuhyun ㅋㅋ Or because he is a tad more dashing here than his character on Doremifasolatido. But he does look sooooo good especially in his close-ups.








And then there's 조보아 as 임수아 … she looks so anime to me ^^. I like her in her role.
